The bottom line: Harrisburg City Council candidates on blight, bankruptcy, taxes, unions

They've debated, fundraised and canvassed city neighborhoods. And in just a few days, voters will decide the Democratic primary election for Harrisburg City Council. Ten are running. Four will win. Three candidates - Kelly Summerford, Eugenia Smith and Wanda Williams - are incumbents. Summerford and challengers Ben Allatt and Camille Erice are being supported by Harrisburg Capital PAC, which formed this spring and has injected more than $89,000 into the race. Apart from that, the combined fundraising efforts of the field already exceeded the total during the last primary when four council seats were at stake. The city's crippling financial and other problems and other issues seem to have inspired people to get involved in the election Tuesday - or at least pay close attention.
