Harrisburg mayoral candidates on bankruptcy: Avoid it, 4 of 5 say

HARRISBURG — Just one of four mayoral candidates running in the May 21 primary has been a staunch supporter of proceeding with bankruptcy to deal with the capital city’s financial struggles. As time passes, however, some Harrisburg residents are warming to that option, because they’ve not seen compelling evidence that progress has been made toward reaching an out-of-court solution. In the meantime, they were hit in January with earned-income taxes up to 2 percent from 1 percent.
